Pausing

>> Tuesday, September 30, 2014

Driving home, this last weekend, for the first time since the semester started, I found I was craving some Rambellwood music, and slid the disc into my cd player. It stunned me a little bit. It had been so long since I'd heard it and I was, in many ways, hearing it for the first time. I found myself listening to layers of the music I'd never really noticed, the details of melodic guitar and the steady, thrumming rhythm of drums and bass, the harmony of sibling voices and textural details of strings and reverb.
The music made me desperate for road-tripping with my siblings, for our suburban packed with gear, for loading and unloading, testing sound, running songs, for wood-shedding transitions and intros till they were perfect, for sharing music, with our audience and each other.

Rambellwood is in a pause, at present. We are, all of us, pursuing our separate futures outside of family music. Despite that, the music is in our blood, and we are each finding ways to keep it alive in our daily lives. Sam is leading worship and writing music, as well as getting our new website up and running. James found a way to fit his drumset into his small apartment, and is keeping his rhythm in shape. Emma sings on worship teams every chance she gets, and keeps a journal of lyric ideas. Johanna and Grace are both pursuing music at school, vocally and musically.

The music is alive, and well, y'all. Stay tuned!

And hey, check out our new website! It's pretty cool, right? Let us know what you think! We'd love to hear from you.
